SEDC has continues to respond to the housing crisis currently facing the city of San Diego by providing a variety of housing options.
Historically, the predominate housing type has been single-family detached homes with characteristics that reflect the specific neighborhood. The cost of housing has caused everyone to rethink how we provide housing in the future. The plan to focus the higher density development along our major corridors will help us retain the uniqueness of the neighborhoods while meeting the need for additional housing at all levels.
As we move forward we will incorporate good design, sustainable development and smart growth principles to broaden our housing choices for anyone who wants to live here. After all, it is the community that is inclusive that thrives.
